ADHD Evaluations and ADHD Testing in Seattle and Bremerton
An ADHD psychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to determine whether symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity are consistent with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). These evaluations help clarify how attention difficulties affect learning, work performance, emotional functioning, and daily life.
At The Psy Center, ADHD evaluations combine clinical interviews, standardized psychological testing, and careful review of developmental, academic, and behavioral history. These assessments are designed not only to determine whether ADHD is present, but also to understand how attention-related difficulties interact with other cognitive, emotional, or learning factors.
In many cases, individuals with ADHD may also experience co-occurring learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or executive functioning challenges. A comprehensive evaluation helps identify these patterns and provides individualized recommendations to support academic success, workplace functioning, and overall well-being.
ADHD evaluations are available for children, adolescents, and adults in Seattle, with additional evaluation services available in Bremerton for individuals throughout the Kitsap Peninsula and Puget Sound region.
Purpose of ADHD Testing
An ADHD evaluation can help answer several important questions.
Diagnostic Clarification
Determine whether an individual meets diagnostic criteria for ADHD and rule out other conditions that may affect attention, concentration, or behavior.
Understanding Cognitive Strengths and Challenges
Identify patterns of attention, executive functioning, memory, and processing speed that may influence learning, organization, and daily functioning.
Treatment Planning
Provide recommendations for behavioral strategies, therapy, educational accommodations, or consultation with medical providers regarding medication.
Educational and Workplace Support
Evaluation findings may help support requests for school accommodations such as 504 plans or IEPs, as well as workplace accommodations when appropriate.
Who Can Benefit from an ADHD Evaluation?
ADHD testing can be helpful for individuals at different stages of life who are experiencing persistent attention or executive functioning challenges.
Children and Adolescents
Students who have difficulty focusing, completing schoolwork, staying organized, or managing impulses may benefit from evaluation to determine whether ADHD or a learning difference may be contributing to academic challenges.
Adults Suspecting ADHD
Many adults seek ADHD testing after recognizing lifelong patterns of difficulty with attention, time management, organization, or task completion. In some cases, adults pursue evaluation after their child has been diagnosed and they begin to recognize similar symptoms in themselves.
Parents, Educators, and Healthcare Providers
Professionals and family members may refer individuals for ADHD evaluation when attention difficulties significantly affect academic performance, work functioning, or daily responsibilities.
What Does ADHD Testing Involve?
A comprehensive ADHD evaluation typically includes several components.
Clinical Interview
A detailed discussion of developmental history, educational background, and current concerns.
Standardized Psychological Testing
Evidence-based assessment tools that measure attention, executive functioning, memory, and other cognitive abilities.
Behavioral and Emotional Assessment
Questionnaires and rating scales that evaluate behavioral patterns, emotional functioning, and ADHD symptom presentation.
Data Integration and Diagnostic Review
All test results and background information are carefully analyzed to determine whether ADHD or other conditions best explain the individual’s symptoms.
Comprehensive Report and Feedback
Following the evaluation, a detailed written report is provided along with personalized recommendations for treatment, educational support, or workplace accommodations.
ADHD Accommodations and Support
Following diagnosis, children and adults may qualify for accommodations that support learning and productivity. These accommodations can include extended time on tests, organizational supports, structured learning strategies, or adjustments in workplace expectations based on an individual's cognitive profile.
A psychological evaluation helps identify the types of supports most likely to improve functioning in school, work, and daily life.
